Fado at The Pines continues its tradition of bringing the finest in Portuguese music to Sausalito. From traditional Fado of Lisboa and Fado of Coimbra and to this year’s Portuguese-American Fadista. Each style represents a unique part of the Portuguese musical culture.
Marisa Silva Rocha Brought up in the "Little Portugal" neighborhood of San Jose, California. Her Portuguese lineage comes from both sides of her parents; 1st generation born in the U.S. on her father's side, and 3rd generation born in San Jose on her mother's side.
Chico Avila Born and raised on the island of Pico, Azores, Chico Avila emigrated to California in 1979. In 1987, he started to sing to the Portuguese community and recorded his first project in Portuguese. To date Chico has produced and published a total of 24 projects.
Alma Fadista The Alma Fadista trio was formed (originally as Sete Colinas) to fill the need for fado musicians in California and has been accompanying our local fadistas as well as many others from Portugal, Canada and east coast USA. Alma Fadista trio is: Chico Avila singing and performing on the “guitarra” (the portuguese guitar) Manuel Escobar on the “viola” (classical guitar). john Cardadeiro on bass.
Fado at The Pines VI is a Fund-raising benefit to support the 2022 Youth Sailing Exchange Program between Cascais, Portugal and Sausalito, California. Six Youth Sailors from the Sausalito Yacht Club will be traveling to Cascais Portugal and staying with host families from Clube Naval de Cascais June 25- July 2.
Seats are Limited Reserved seating for 114. We have reduced the seating so that the evening will be more enjoyable. No standing room!
